Handmade with Love - Friday Sketchers Challenge

Happy Day everyone!
At last - I have a challenge card that I've done and can post - woohoo!!! I had this lovely Tilda already inked up and cut out and thought it would work beautifully with Jeanette's sketch this week on Friday Sketchers. Thanks Jeanette - it was a great one to work with!
I coloured Tilda with my Distress Inks and Tombow markers. The papers are from a new (to me) K&Co stack - Wild Raspberry - mmm, are they ever delish! The panel behind Tilda is embossed with the hearts folder and the sentiment is punched using a SU! flower punch.
Thank you all so much for your very kind and heartfelt wishes for my son - you have to be the kindest and most thoughtful blogging friends ever! I'm so touched to call you all my friends! He had his blood work done yesterday and was an absolute trooper - didn't even cry or squirm at the needle - I was so proud of him! Now we just have to wait until after Thanksgiving (Oct 13th) for the results.
It is cold here today but the sun seems to be making a big effort to come out! Nice after all the rain we've been having!
Thanks for stopping by and paying me a visit - I hope to have some more time to play a little later!
Hugs to you all,

So busy ..... with so little time!

Hello my friends!

I just wanted to let you know that I've been busy with visitors and also preparing for a birthday party that I'm doing tomorrow. This is my first birthday party comission for 10 9/10 yr old girls - I'm very excited but it has meant lots of preparation, on top of having to entertain visitors at the same time! My middle son too is dealing with some medical issues and we're having him tested for celiac disease. It has been a trying time.

Hopefully next week I will get back in the swing of things and spend some more quality time in my craft room. I have been quite sporadic leaving comments etc. on all your blogs - I've viewed your beautiful work, I just haven't had the time to leave a comment - my sincere apologies! I'm desperately missing not doing my usual challenges too.

I created another concertina pocket file and I'll be teaching this class at Heather's on October 17th. Check out her schedule here if you're in the area and want to participate! I'd love to see you there!
Well, I wish you all a beautiful weekend whatever you're doing. We have sunshine here today before the forecast of 4 days of rain!

Hugs,

A Treat for you All!

THIS CANDY IS NOW CLOSED!!

Hello my crafty friends!!
I found this fab tutorial yesterday and couldn't resist trying it! This gorgeous and very easy concertina pocket holder is such a sweet and awesome little gift to make - I had soooo much fun doing this! I used the new Tilda image from the Fall Kit and coloured her with the copics. I've used beautiful fall colours to match the designer paper I used. The MS border punch and some flowers from stash finish the front panel off. I will also enter this into the Magnolia-licious HighLites challenge. I'm adding an edit in here to include the Cute Card Thursday challenge this week - Hidden Treasure. I think this project fits the bill perfectly! I've just seen the Magnolia Down Under Challenge too and it's for "Anything but a Card" - so I'm entering this into it too!
Side view showing the concertina pockets.
View from the top showing the pockets.

So here comes the fun part - can you guess what's in the pockets? Yes, that's right - some candy!! I am giving away this sweet holder filled with yummy bits of candy. Included are adhesive pearls, prima flowers, 6 unmounted Alota stamps, ribbon, stamped Magnolia Fall Kit images, 12 spacers.
All you have to do is leave a comment and spread the word about my candy. If you like my work and would like to be a follower that would be awesome but it's not a requirement. I will close the candy next Friday September 25th.
Thanks for stopping by today - I love having you visit!

Two Challenges - One Card!

Hello there!
I have managed to squeeze in a bit of time to complete this card and tick off the boxes of 2 challenges - yay!!
The sketch is from Stamp with Fun and it was a lot of fun to work with! I used the beautiful papers from my K&Co pack. The image is one I've received in a swap and I honestly can't tell you if it's a Sugar Nellie or WOJ - if someone knows please let me know! I coloured her with my copic markers. I'm also entering this into the Cute Card Thursday challenge this week (colour combo of pink & green).
I used my fab new MS Floral Lace border punch. I added some pearls and a pretty prima flower with spacer. The scroll is a bosskut die and the vintage lace trim is a bargain I picked up at the Dollar Store!
So there you have it! Thanks for coming by for a visit. I always love to read your comments so thank you for taking the time to stop and post one!
I hope you're all enjoying a fabulous evening and will hopefully be back tomorrow with a little something else!
Hugs,

Safari Edwin

Hello there!
Today I've finally put together a card using my gorgeous Safari Edwin (he's been coloured for ages and just sat in my box)! I've used the fabulous sketch from Friday Sketchers this week. I used a piece of scrapbook paper from stash for the octagonal panel. The back panel is embossed so that means I can enter this into the Just Magnolia challenge for this week, embossing!
Onto the card, I coloured with my copics. Edwin is adhered with 3D foam dots as are the jungle leaves. I used my airbrush to colour a white prima flower so it looks more like a jungle flower! The sentiment is computer generated which I die cut using the spellbinders tags. I ran brown ribbon through and adhered it to the card.
I'm really happy with the final result of this card. Magnolia has a special challenge on this weekend to create a winter card/project for exclusive publication in their Magnolia Ink magazine. Check out the link here. I'm thinking I might just enter it so I've been working on something this afternoon. Of course, I can't blog it but I figured I would have a go - they can only turn you down right?? I don't often enter these sorts of thing 'cos I don't figure I'm good enough, but what the heck, won't know if you don't try!!
Well, thanks for popping by! We're enjoying another glorious weekend of sunshine! My mother-in-law arrives tomorrow for a 2 wk visit so not too sure how much inky time I'll be getting in! I hope you're all enjoying your weekend! Thanks so much for all your beautiful comments - they are truly appreciated!

And here's the rest ....... snapshot of my craft room

Hi!

So I thought, what the heck, I'll show you the rest of my craft room - if you've seen my messy desk, you may as well see it all, lol!!
I was lucky enough to get lots of free perspex shelving from the owners of The Stamp Barn so I bought some slat wall from The Home Depot and my hubby was good enough to mount it on the wall for me! It provides the most amazing organisation and I love having it up on the wall in front of my eyes! After my mini flood I re-arranged things and like this new layout much more - it works really well for me.
And yes, I do know how lucky I am to have my own crafting space!
I also had to share this fabulous deal I got my hands on yesterday - two gorgeous DCWV paper packs from Chapters for 75% off - regular price $24.99 and I got them for $5 each!!! Just so love a bargain!!!

"What's on your desk? Wednesday" - Just for fun!!

Hi!
OK, so I'm joining with the fun of showing off the condition of your crafting desk today! Now, first off, I'm so not proud of this photo, lol!! I have fits and starts where I'll have a huge clear-up and clean and my desk is spotless, well clearly I'm now due for one of those!!! This is how my desk was left after my last creation and well, lets face it, I do sometimes actually create better when I have a mess around me than when everything is clear. Anyone else craft like that??
So there you have it - my crafty messy heaven - but I love it!

Winter Wonderland Card - Frosty the Snowman

Hello everyone!
I was very determined to give myself some inky time today as we've had a really busy weekend so far so I took myself down to my craft room and gently closed the door behind me, lol!!!

And this is what came out! I saw the Winter Wonderland challenge this week is Frosty the Snowman - I love snowmen and haven't used this cute stamp in a while! I also used their extra option of the sketch too - and what a fun sketch to play with it was! I coloured my snowman with my copics and cut out his hat, scarf and muffs to 3D. I used my cuttlebug embossing folders, nesties labels 4 and paper from stash to complete the card. The snowflake swirl is from Inkadinkado and the sentiment is The Stamp Barn. The snowflake embellishment is from stash.

Thanks for coming for a visit today - I love having you stop by! Your comments are always so well received and appreciated - they truly make my day a happier one! I hope you're all enjoying this fabulous Holiday Monday and the glorious sunshine (Mr Sun is shining on us here in Ottawa in his full glory!)

Friday Sketchers - Handmade with Love

Happy Friday everyone!
I have a big smile on my face with glorious sunshine leading the way into our long weekend! I finally got a little time today to get inky with some of my new Magnolia stamps and used the simple but great layout from Friday Sketchers this week. After viewing Rach's copic colouring tutorial (she is a copic genius!!) I played around with this image and did lots of tweaking and highlighting and have to say I'm quite thrilled with the result! Didn't think I'd ever be able to get to the point of achieving this shading - practice really does help perfect things!! I'm still far from perfect though, lol!!!
I rotated the sketch 90 degrees so it could accommodate Tilda better. My papers are from a K&Co stack in my stash and the ribbon is SU! grosgrain. I used the SU! scalloped circle punch for the sentiment. I added some simple stitching detail to each panel too.
Thanks for stopping by today and taking the time to leave a comment! I hope you enjoy a fabulous Labor Day weekend and get lots of sunshine wherever you are!

My baby turns 4 today!

Hello!
This is a super quick posting today as it's my little one's birthday today - Jacob turns 4 - my baby is growing up so fast!!
Just wanted to show you the very simple birthday card I put together for him. This is an adorable Bildmalarna stamp which I got from Nikki's store Bunny-Zoe's crafts. He is so cute and in a way kinda looks like Jacob - blonde curly hair and carrying a fishing net with him the whole time we were at the cottage this summer! Nothing spectacular on this card - very simple embellishments and the image coloured with copics.
Thanks for stopping by and hopefully I'll get a chance to craft a bit more later. My mojo seems to be a little lacking at the moment - partly due I'm sure to the fact that the weather outside is still fabulously sunny and warm (a bit late but ah well, not going to complain if the sun wants to shine, lol)!!!
Hope you're all enjoying a fabulous day!
Hugs,
Danielle x
