Altered Note Pads

Good Morning All!

Happy Monday everyone - I hope you enjoyed a beautiful weekend and that you have a great week ahead of you!

We're beginning our first full week of summer vacation.  It was raining first thing this morning but it does seem to be brightening up outside - fingers crossed the sun comes out so we can go swimming in the pool!

Today I wanted to show you two note pads I was commissioned to make for teacher gifts.  I was given the themes 'Princess' and 'Earthy' for the two different teachers.  I heard they will thrilled with them - I guess I hit the themes right on!

I hope I'll get a chance to get into my craft room for a little bit today - in the meantime I need to catch up on some Wimbledon!!  My boys are becoming little tennis dudes too - we've been hitting balls together lately and having a blast!

Enjoy your day and thanks for taking the time to visit and leaving me a comment!  I appreciate every one of them - so thank you!

Zoe the Gymnast!

Hi there!

It's another Challenge Focus over at PaperWorksCo today and I decided to play with one of the new sports series images, Zoe the Gymnast.

Can you guess which challenges I entered?  Yup - went with the Strawberries & Cream themes out there this week!  This gorgeous paper is from 3 Bugs in a Rug (Bed of Roses) which I thought was perfect to complement Zoe.  I coloured Zoe using my copics and cut her out.  I followed the sketch and S&C challenge at Truly Scrumptious.  Ribbon, bling & crochet flower are all from stash.

Cupcake Craft Challenges also have the theme of Strawberries & Cream this week so I will enter my card there and at Creative Craft challenges they have Stamp it Up! as their theme.

All supplies used on this card are available at PWCO

It's raining today so maybe I'll even get a chance to pop into my craft room and enjoy some crafty time!  I hope you're all enjoying your weekend too!

Winter Wonderland - A 'Strawberries & Cream' Christmas!

Hi there!

I hope you are all well!  Another Friday and the first of the summer - my boys finished school yesterday and now have 10 wks off, eeek!  Let's just say I'm praying hard for sibling 'bliss' over the holidays!

Anyways, onto the card for the day.  It's another Winter Wonderland challenge and this week we're presenting the theme 'Strawberries & Cream'.  You can interpret as you like but of course with a 'christmas' theme to it.  I've opted for the colour combo and kept my card red & cream.  I used the sketch from Sketch Saturday this week.  I decided on a quick and easy card and instead of a coloured image used this fabulous NOEL stamp inked in black.  The papers are October Afternoon and I used the snowflakes embossing folder too.

I'm also entering this card into 'Truly Scrumptious' where the theme is Strawberries & Cream and also Cupcake Craft Challenges.

Well, thanks for stopping by and I wish you all a wonderful Friday and a fabulous start to the weekend!  I appreciate every comment you leave for me - I love reading them and they really do brighten up my day!

Take care,

Sharing some teacher gifts ....

Hi everyone!

I hope you're all well.  I have a healthy household once again - thanks for all your good wishes!  Firstly, I have to share with you my first earthquake experience yesterday here in Ottawa!  Wow - at about 1.40pm I was out in the garden with a friend and the earth literally started to shake under our feet - what a weird feeling that was!  It was later reported that Quebec/Ontario experienced a 5.0 magnitude tremor which was felt as far away as Boston, NY and even Ohio!!  Thankfully very or no little damage was reported but definitely one of those 'I will never forget what I was doing when ....' moments!  :)

Anyways, true to my eternal procrastinating personality, here I am at the last minute scrambling to put together some simple teacher gifts.  They are simple but I'm hoping that they will be well received and used - don't all teachers need copious amounts of note pads???  LOL  I initally found the idea over at Nichole Heady's blog here but I customised it myself to fit the notepads I had bought.  I used my Cricut to cut out the NOTES letters  - loving my Cricut!!!

Here is a shot of the finished inside 'pocket'.

And, as promised, here's a picture of my beautiful boy Josh, who graduated Gr.6 yesterday.  We enjoyed a wonderful ceremony and celebration and I even managed to hold back my tears (just)!!!

Well, thanks for stopping by today.  I will try and take advantage of the last day before school finishes for the summer and see if I can get a little crafting done.  I'm excited to have them home but having all 3 together 24/7 certainly has its moments!!  Hope you all enjoy a wonderful day and thank you so much for all the beautiful comments you leave - they are so very much appreciated!

Tilda in the Garden

Hi there!

I hope you are all keeping well.  Unfortunately I have my middle son, Joel, home sick with a fever and vomiting and I've woken up with a sore throat.  And, it's Josh's Gr.6 Graduation this afternoon - geez, I hope we all start feeling better quickly!!

I managed to make this card on Friday when I had Jacob home sick with what Joel now has!  He slept all day so I was able to take advantage of some crafting time!

I love this sweet Tilda with her bike from last years summer collection.  I coloured Tilda with my distress inks and I've paired her up with the beautiful Magnolia tree which is coloured using copics.  I have used MME 'Pretty Please' papers.  I've used the MS picket fence punch to create the feel of a garden and finished off with bling around the Magnolia tree.

I will enter this card into the following challenges:-

Just Magnolia - In the Garden
Friday Sketchers - Sketch by Carole

Thanks for your visit today - I hope I will get some time to blog hop a little later and catch up with everyones creations.  I will have some photos to share with you tomorrow of Josh's Graduation!  Have a wonderful day!

A Wedding Card

Good Monday Morning!

Wow - what a busy weekend - I'm glad it's Monday!  I was asked to make a wedding card so decided to use this beautiful Magnolia image.  I followed Claudia's sketch over at the Cute Card Thursday challenge this week which just fit this card perfectly.  I coloured Tilda & Edwin in with my copics and pulled out some papers from the DCWV wedding range.  I went with a slightly more vintage colour tone to this card as the couple getting married are a little older.  I added some bling on either side and used my MS Trellis punch.  I will also enter this card into Charisma Cardz challenge this week which is 'All About Bling'.

Here is a view of how I finished the inside of the card.  Very simple and with a beautiful verse from The Stamp Barn.

Thanks for stopping by today - I really hope you enjoyed the visit!  Must get on as I have some teacher gifts I need to do!  I hope you all enjoy a beautiful day!

PWCO Blog Hop - Introducing Zac the Soccer Player!

Hi everyone!

So glad you could join me on the PaperWorksCo blog hop today to showcase the newly released Zac & Zoe Sports Set #2 stamps!

If you've arrived here by way of Lisa T then you're in the right place, but in case you haven't, you will want to start back at the beginning with Peggy - you don't want to miss out on anything now do you!!

Well, I get to introduce you to the super cute Zac the Soccer Player - and what could be more perfect right now with the FIFA World Cup being played in South Africa!  I have coloured Zac with my copics and trimmed him out.  My layout design is inspired by the England flag!  As most of you know, I am a Brit living in Canada and we do of course fully support the English team in their football/soccer matches.  With Father's Day just tomorrow, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to make this card with that in mind.  There is the white layer at the back with the funky Jillybean Soup star paper and then the red cross representative of the England flag.  I tried to colour Zac in the England team colours as best I could!    The sentiments are computer generated and the soccer 'frame' is from my stash of scrapbooking supplies.

In case you should lose your way (lol), here's the list of the order of the blog hop! The fabulous Silvia is your next stop where I'm sure she has a gorgeous creation for you to feast your eyes on!

Winter Wonderland - A Festive Tree!

Hi everyone!

Welcome to another Friday challenge at Winter Wonderland!  This week our lovely Lynsey has given us the challenge of 'A Festive Tree' for this coming week.  So why don't you break out your christmas tree stamps and come and join us!

I decided to keep my card fairly simple this week and inked up a stamp that I haven't used in ages.  It's such a pretty tree too - quite modern and whimsical!  And because of that I thought I'd keep to a fun colour combo and went with pink & green again!  I coloured the image with copics and added some bling adhesives to the tree.  Paper is BG Eskimo Kisses and I embossed a panel using the circle trees cuttlebug folder.  I also brought out my MS tree border punch to add detail to the other side of the card.  Pink silk ribbon with a pearl ribbon slider adds a touch of elegance.  The sentiment is from The Stamp Barn.

Our challenge this week is sponsored by Terri's Delicious Doodles Digi Store.  She has some really beautiful images and the winner will win 3 digis of their choice!

Apologies for my lack of posting this week - I've been so busy with the end of school coming up next week and softball games etc.!  The boys have their tournament this weekend and then the season is over so I should be having more time to play - yippee!  AND, my mom just bought a Cricut machine for me as an early 40th birthday gift which I'm really thrilled about!!  I can't wait to have a bit more spare time to sit and really play with it!

Have a wonderful Friday and I hope you all have a wonderful start to the weekend!

Challenge Focus at PaperWorksCo

Hello!
Today is the first of my regular DT contributions to the PWCO blog - I'm so excited!!  Every Saturday there will be a 'Challenge Focus' where we get to choose (a) challenge/s from either SCS or blogland!  I scoured my regular favourites and found 3 (will list them at the end) that I could combine with this one card - gotta love that!!  Also, a friend has just had a baby boy so I thought I would check that off the list too!
And what's more perfect for a baby card than Harriet the Hippo!  I love these papers 'Nana's Nursery' from DCWV.  The sheet with the parade of animals is just ideal for this image and I adore the colours together.  I decided to make an easel card - that style of card always showcases the work so nicely!  Harriet is paper pieced and I think looks ever so cute in her spots!

I've used my new large scalloped circle nesties and button, ribbon & dew drops are from stash.  Harriet the Hippo can be found in the Safari Friends Collection here at PaperWorksCo.  Be sure to check out the store, Peggy has lots of yummy stuff available!

The 3 challenges are:-

Totally Papercrafts - 'Animal Magic'
Charisma Cardz - 'Spots & Stripes'

Thanks so much for stopping by today for a visit!  I love and appreciate every comment that you leave - thank you!  Be sure to keep an eye out for next Saturday as PWCO will be having another blog hop to release another new fabulous set of stamps!!

Hope you all enjoy a wonderful weekend!

Winter Wonderland - A Traditional Christmas Flower

Another Friday means another Winter Wonderland challenge day!  I am your host this week and I chose the theme 'Traditional Christmas Flower'.  We would like to see poinsettias, holly, ivy, christmas roses, mistletoe etc. on your cards.

I love using these gorgeous Prima poinsettia embellishments so knew they would be on my card.  I used this adorable CC Designs santa helper image - isn't she so cute!!  I coloured with copics and cut her out.  The polka dot paper is from October Afternoon and the sentiment is Penny Black.  I used the Cuttlebug vintage photo corner die cut for the top corners and lace from my stash to finish off the card.  I'm also entering this card into A Spoonfull of Sugar challenge - 'Floral Delight'.

I hope you're able to pop over to Winter Wonderland - my teamies have done another magnificent job with their creations.  There is also a fabulous prize up for grabs from The Stamp Barn.

Thanks for stopping by and paying me a visit today!  It would be great to see you join in our Christmas challenge and start filling up your christmas card box!  Can you believe it's already the 2nd week of June!!  Thanks for any comments you leave - they are always so greatly appreciated!

WOYWW!

Well, I've decided to join in with 'What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday' this week!  This is not one of my most tidiest moments but oh well, it is a real peek into how I work!  The beautiful flowers to the left of the picture are what I just received in the mail from the lovely Jacque (along with some chocolate bars which I have hidden away from my chocaholic hubby behind the lamp)!!!
I'm off to do a quick tidy up before I start my Winter Wonderland DT card which will be available for your viewing on Friday!!!
I have managed to get an allergist appointment at lunchtime with Joel today.  I hope we will get some clearer answers as to what exactly triggered his asthma attack!  Well, take care and wishing you all a great day!

Life update and blog award to share

Well, my weekend did not get off to a good start.  Friday lunchtime I got a panicked phone call from my mom friend who was attending the school Gr.3 field trip to the National Art Gallery.  My middle son, Joel, was being taken away in an ambulance after suffering a very severe asthma attack!  I rushed to the Children's Hospital and thankfully he was there with his teacher and a mom volunteer, who happened to be an ER nurse (and his guardian angel that day I swear).  Joel was also covered in hives so the doctors weren't sure if he was having an anaphylactic reaction to some allergy or if it was purely his asthma, so he ended up having epinephrine as well as oral steroids and ventolin.  We were in the hospital more than 6 hours and thankfully he has made a full recovery.  I have never experienced this before and to say it has shaken me is an understatement.  To come close to possibly losing your child is something I never ever wish to experience again.  Angels were definitely looking after my son that day.  So this weekend we've been lying low and taking it easy and the weather has been rather wet & gloomy so it has been perfect for lazing around the house and enjoying family time!

I received this award from my sweet blogging friend, Rosie.  Thanks Rosie - it's an unusual one and sounds quite fun!

There are several rules to follow:

1. Thank and link the person who gave you the award

2. Display the award on your blog

3. Tell 6 lies and one truth about yourself or vice versa

4. Nominate 7 others and leave a message letting them know.

So here are my 6 lies and 1 truth:

1.  I dislike red wine
2.  I hate colouring with copic markers
3.  I don't own one Magnolia stamp
4.  I don't like blogging
5.  I believe in angels and the paranormal
6.  I don't like being a stay-at-home mom
7.  I  hate Cadbury's chocolate

Can you figure out the truth from the lies???  LOL.  I bet you can!

I would like to pass this award onto:-

Anyways, I managed to get a little crafting done today so hopefully I'll have something to show you tomorrow!  Thanks for stopping by and I always appreciate your visits!

Winter Wonderland - Love at Christmas!

Happy Friday!
Wow - another week gone and here we are in June already!  Time is just flying by and I have to say making a Christmas card a week is going great and my pile is growing very nicely!
So today Marianne is challenging us to 'Love at Christmas' this week over at Winter Wonderland.  I haven't coloured up any Magnolias in a little while so thought I would pull out this gorgeous image of Tilda with the mistletoe.  I went with a non-traditional Christmas color combo of pink & green and I really like it!  I've also followed the sketch from this weeks Sketch Saturday challenge.  I've coloured with copics and used papers from my stash.  The punched border is MS and ribbon & lace is also from stash.  The pearl hat pin was from a candy win from Bev.  I computer generated the sentiment myself and punched each one out with a small circle punch.
I hope you're able to join us over at Winter Wonderland for this weeks challenge.  We have a fabulous prize offered up by Whimsy Stamps and the DT have certainly provided beautiful inspiration for everyone!
Thanks for your visit today and I am slowly catching up with my commenting.  I hope you're able to leave me a comment - I love to read every one and I appreciate them all so much!
Wishing you all a wonderful day and a great start to the weekend!
Hugs,

Bursting with good news ......

It has been so hard for me to keep this quiet but the time has come and I can finally share and shout from the roof tops that I am a new team member for PaperWorksCo design team!!!  I was so thrilled when Peggy asked if would like to join the team, err, umm ............ YEAH!!!  I am a customer of Peggy's wonderful on-line store and have admired the beautiful stamps and DT work that have been regularly released.  I am so honoured to be joining this team for a 6 month term and I just hope I will live up to everyones expectations and make her stamps proud!

That being said, today is my DT introduction over at the PWCO blog and here is my debut card.  I was asked to make a birthday card for a 3yr old girl with her name on it.  How perfect when I received these fabulous double-sided alphabet stickers in my DT kit!  I placed them down on the gorgeous embossed cardstock and flocked away with my pink Doodlebug flock.  I used this pretty summery combo of colours and kept the style simple and elegant.  The punched border is MS and the flowers are Prima.

Thanks for stopping by and I know I've been absolutely terrible at commenting this past week but my visitors leave today so hopefully that will give me some extra time.  I have also been incredibly busy gardening and decided to plant a vegetable garden this year with my boys.  We planted all weekend and have my boys very enthused now for looking after their veggies!  I'm quite excited too!
I appreciate every comment you leave and thanks for taking the time to come by and visit!  I hope you all enjoy a wonderful day!
Hugs,
Danielle x
