It's another Magical Monday already!

Good Monday morning!

We've woken up to snow on the ground this morning so this weeks image at 'There's Magic in the Air' is perfect - 'Snowy Flight'. My teamie, Nilla, hosts the challenge this week which is 'Anything BUT a card'. The choice is endless here, so why not hop on over to TMITA and grab this freebie image from Nina and play along! There's a fab prize up for grabs too!

For my project I decided on this criss-cross box which I found over on Nichole Heady's blog here. I embossed the cardstock with the snowflake embossing folder before I taped the box together. Snowy is coloured with my copics then cut out and adhered to the box with 3D foam squares. I ran the ribbon around the box. I then took a separate piece and looped them together, then sewed it on the sewing machine to hold the loops. I punched out some snowflakes with the MS punch and placed one over the top of the stitching. A dot of stickles in the middle adds some sparkle!
To finish the box off, I've filled it with a sachet of hot chocolate, some marshmallows and a candy cane! I think I will be making some more of these as little christmas gifts for the boys' friends. It really was an easy project and Nina's super image definitely ups the cuteness factor!!!
Well, thanks for popping over today! I hope the visit was worth your while and that you have time to leave a comment. I wish you all a beautiful day. As I look out my window, the snow is beginning to fall gently and I'm really starting to feel christmassy! Have a great day everyone!

Sunday Spotlight!

Hello everyone!
My son, Josh, was quite taken with all the comments he received from you guys on his first card posting that he's decided he wants a regular 'spot' on my blog! So, we've decided on a 'Sunday Spotlight' when he has a card done and ready to post.
So with that said, he made this christmas Edwin card last weekend. I introduced him to masking and we masked Edwin onto this santa sack. He was quite taken with the masking technique and loved the end result. He coloured with Derwent watercolour pencils. The paper is from Daisy D's and the glitter snowflake is from stash. He stamped the Magnolia sentiment in red ink and cut around it.
Josh has decided this card will be for his teacher (I love that - one less card for me to make, lol!!).
Thanks for stopping by today and taking the time to look at my son's work. His smile got bigger each time he read the comments last time so thank you for that - it truly was so special to see him beaming! Hope you all have a great Sunday!

A Galactic Birthday Wish!

Happy Friday!

This is a quickie post today but I wanted to show you the card I made for my son's 8th Birthday today. He ADORES Star Wars and a very sweet blogging friend *waving at you Sheena* lent me some of her adorable Star Wars stamps from Alota Stamps! They are the cutest set ever - a definite must-have if you have boys! I definitely see a galactic purchase coming on, lol!!!

It was a very simple card as I didn't get even get down to my craft room until 9pm last night to start it! However, my son LOVED it and that's all that counts, in my book anyway! I coloured Luke Skywalker with my copics, cut him out and used pop dots to adhere him to the card. The stars came from a recent candy win.

Well, thanks for stopping by today. I hope I can get in some more crafty time today and this weekend. It's rainy and miserable today so it's perfect to hang out in my craft room!
Hugs,
Danielle x
EDITED TO ADD:
Just finished my son's birthday cake! I stamped, coloured and cut out these Star Wars characters, taped a toothpick behind each one and have added them as decorations to his themed cake! My other sons helped to make the 'SW' in marshmallows!! Chocolate chip cookie crumbs make the dirt and rocks on Tatooine!

A snowy 'Shadow Box' card

Good morning!
Wow - what a night! I was at the hospital until 2.30am this morning with my oldest son - I'm a little wiped to say the least! Thankfully he is fine now but there were moments that we thought he would need emergency surgery (a testicular torsion) - very ouch!!
Anyhow, onto my card. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this card. I finally got my little inky mitts on these gorgeous Magnolia snowmen and they are stunning beyond words! This is the second card that I'll be teaching at Heather's on December 12th. I've used a new christmas/winter cuttlebug embossing folder (trees) for the aqua background panel. Snowy is coloured with Tombow markers and I used Twinklets on the snowflake. The front panel is embossed with the snowflake folder and the snowflakes I've added in silver are spellbinders. The sentiment is from The Stamp Barn. I've added a white diamond gem on each snowflake for extra sparkle. The ribbon is from stash.
Well, thanks for coming by today and paying me a visit. I think I will be taking a siesta at some point today to catch up on a little bit of sleep! If you're visiting from in and around the Ottawa area and would like to take this class, please check Heather's calendar and sign up - I'd love to have you in my class!
I hope you all enjoy a beautiful day! Thanks so much for all the wonderful comments you leave! A very HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all my American friends today - I hope you enjoy a wonderful holiday with family and friends!

A Mousey Silent Night!

Good morning all!
I recently added this cutesy PB Mouse stamp to my collection - it's so adorable isn't it! I have made this card as one of my samples for my next class at Heather's, December 12th. It's one of those 'Z' fold cards (see below for side view). I also used the Magnolia 'Silent Night' musical background stamp which I think is fabulous - just awesome for creating christmas backgrounds!
I stamped the mice on watercolour paper, masked, then stamped the music background. I love that I'm using the masking technique a bit more, it really is so great! I coloured with my Distress Inks and added some stickles to the candle flame. I also distressed the edges and background with Tea Dye. I spritzed the finished panel with TA Pearl Glimmer Spray to add a final sheen of sparkle. A red bow and some bling finish it off. The back panel is embossed with one of the new christmas cuttlebug embossing folders - wow, it's gorgeous - so much detail!

Well, that's all for today folks! Thanks for stopping by and checking me out and taking the time to leave a much appreciated comment!
Also, I wanted to mention that I'm in my first blog hop with TMITA - it's coming up December 9th. There's a link over in my sidebar to go and check out all the fun details!
I wish you all a great day with lots of happiness and smiles!

It's Magical Monday!

Happy Magical Monday everyone!
Today, Nina has this gorgeous image 'Cozy & Bright' on offer for FREE this week over at 'There's Magic in the Air'. Isn't is so cute! Stephanie challenged us all to use something fuzzy on this project - fun flock, fuzzy ribbon, fiber, fuzzy brads etc. - basically anything that is fuzzy!
So on this card I've used fun flock on his antlers (see pic below for a close-up) and I embossed a piece of brown velvet paper. It goes through the cuttlebug embossing folders like a dream! I coloured with my copics and added liquid applique for the santa hat, pink and gold stickles on the christmas lights and made a bow for the gift. The border is punched with the EK Success Moroccan punch and I added some ribbon and a gorgeous glittered prima poinsettia to add the final touch of sparkle! I distress inked the background to take away the stark white of the cardstock.

Thanks for popping over today and taking the time to look and leave a comment! I hope you also get the time to hop on over to TMITA to grab this freebie digi image and play with us this week! Have a great Monday!

Just Magnolia - Tilda with Christmas Tree

Hello my friends!
I got a chance to play a bit with my new Magnolia rubber and decided to join in with the Just Magnolia challenge this week of 'masking'. If you haven't popped over there already, get your skates on and go 'cos this weeks prize is fabulous - a MAGNOLIA INK MAGAZINE (amongst other things!!) I haven't used the masking technique in a while and thoroughly enjoyed playing with it again. The satisfaction you get when the scene comes together is wonderful!
So I've used the new christmas Tilda with Tree and masked the Magnolia christmas tree behind her. I have coloured with my Tombow markers on watercolour paper. To do something different with the tree, I spread glue over all the branches and added 'Diamond Dust' Twinklets to them. I found this gorgeous embellishment in Michaels last week and was so super happy! It is very finely ground glass and when adhered to your project gives it the most gorgeous twinkle and sparkle, but yet so very different from glitter or Stickles! Hopefully the photo below will give you a better idea of the twinkle!
I used BG Eskimo Kisses paper and distressed all the edges. I airbrushed with B01 copic behind Tilda and the tree. I used my SU! horizontal slot punch to thread the ribbon through and managed to tie a half-decent bow at the other end, lol!! The sentiment is Magnolia which has been distressed with inks and the tool.
Well, thanks again for your visit today. I really do love that you time to take to hop on over to my humble blog and leave me a comment! I wish you all a beautiful Sunday!
Hugs,

Friday Sketchers - Wrapped Tilda

Hello friends!
This weeks sketch over at the Friday Sketchers blog is hosted by Jeanette and she's given us a fab one to play with. My new Magnolia christmas stamps arrived today with my first sample of Magnolia paper. Oh my goodness, these papers are beyond gorgeous - I LOVE THEM!! Also, the challenge over at Color Create is to create a christmas card using RED, WHITE & GREEN, so I'm also submitting this card over on that challenge blog.
So, with new goodies in hand I got to work on this sweet christmas card using Wrapped Tilda. I coloured with my copics and whilst I'm quite happy with her bow, I'm not so much with her dress. I feel it's a little on the dark side but oh well, that's what happens when you don't have all the right shades of certain colours (my stock can only get built up slowly considering how expensive they are!!). I think I'll just say it's a velvet dress and velvet is very rich and lush, right?!!
I used the Fiskars Threading Water punch with the strip of lace over the top. The flowers were all glimmer sprayed and glamour dusted. I used the MS branch punch and a pearl pin (received in a candy win from Bev). The green panel behind Tilda is a nesties label 8. And that's it!
I'm teaching a Tilda card over at Heather's this morning so I'm looking forward to playing with the ladies! Thanks for coming by and visiting me and I hope you're all enjoying a beautiful Saturday!

Cute Card Thursday - Teen Terrors!

Hi there!
A quick posting tonight to show this card off. My 11 year old son, Josh, made this card for his best buddy who suffered quite an eye injury a couple of days ago (he tripped and slammed into a tree). He coloured Ian with watercolour pencils - take note of his left eye!!! LOL.
The papers are distressed and Josh added these arrows and star from a scrapbooking set of embellishments. The sentiment 'A Special Guy' is from the 'My Guy Ian' set by The Greeting Farm. As this weeks challenge over at Cute Card Thursday is 'Teen Terrors', we decided to enter this card in. Josh was thrilled with his finished card. I know he would certainly love to read your comments (so would I). I think he did a fantastic job, but I am somewhat biased, hee hee!!
So, thanks again for visiting! I hope you enjoy a great evening.
Hugs,

Happy Friday to you all!
Here is the last of my DT submission cards. I had this Tilda coloured up for a while and waiting to be used. She is coloured with copics. The design and layout of this card is very simple but with the paper being quite 'busy' I planned it that way! I used the hanging vine accessory stamp from Magnolia and placed Tilda over the top with pop dots. I added some Prima hydrangea flowers and wrapped rafia under the Tilda panel. The paper is Daisy D's. I hope you like it!
I'm laying low today as I have a migraine and the beginnings of a cold. Thanks for popping by for a visit today - I always appreciate you coming over! And thanks for your beautiful comments - they always lift my spirits! I'm so lucky to have such a great bunch of blogging buddies! Have a great start to the weekend.

Santa's Coming .....

Hello!
So today I get to show you a second card that I had made for my DT submission. I actually also did this one for the Magnolia Ink magazine but never heard back from them.
The papers are BG Wassail and the fireplace is a previous Magnolia christmas collection. I coloured with my copics and distressed the edges with my distressing tool and ink. I sewed around the panels. I added the vintage christmas flower soft mix to the fireplace garland and added adhesive pearls to the bows. Some lace and the sentiment finish off the card.
Thanks for taking the time to stop by today and leave me a comment - I love knowing you have visited!

A recipe for Tilda

Hi everyone!
Today I want to show you one of the cards that I submitted for the DT spot at The Little Stamp Shoppe. Unfortunately I didn't get chosen but I can now show off the cards that I made. Thank you so much for all your words of support and encouragement - they really do mean so much to me!
I really loved this card and had a lot of fun putting it together. The papers were obviously my source of colour inspiration for colouring Tilda. I coloured her with my copics. The papers are from BG Eskimo Kisses. I sewed around all the panels for extra detailing. I made the recipe from individual word stamps that I have. I distressed it with distress inks. Lace, tulle, MS branch punch and spacer with prima flower add all the finishing touches.
Thanks for stopping by today! I will show you the other cards I submitted tomorrow and Friday. I hope you enjoyed your visit over to my blog today and have time to leave me a comment. Thank you all so much!

Cute Card Thursday - Glitter me Silly!

Happy Tuesday!
I have a non-christmas card for you today! My sweet friend stamped me out some gorgeous new images of hers from Stamping Bella and I just love this sweetie!! Isn't she cute! I coloured her with my copics and added lots of stickles to her dress. The paper is from October Afternoon and I zig-zag sewed around the edges for added detail. I've used the layout from Sketch Saturday this week and all the sparkle and glitter is for Cute Card Thursday. I was in Michaels on Saturday and was overjoyed to find the MS Lace Heart Punch - I did a happy dance right there in the store (much to the amusement of my shopping buddy!!!). I have been after this punch for soooooo long - I'm still grinning with excitement over it, lol!! The sentiment is SU! I distressed the stark white cardstock with Tea Dye distress ink too. Lot of stickles, glimmer mist and glamour dust on the hydrangea flowers add the element of 'glitter me silly'!! A black organza bow and a red adhesive pearl add the finishing touches!
The Stamp Shoppe have introduced their new DT members and I have to admit to being a little disappointed at not being picked :( It does, however, mean that I have some extra cards up my sleeve to show you this week!
Well, that's it folks! Thanks for stopping by for a visit today - you are always so welcome and appreciated! And thanks for leaving a comment - I love hearing from you!
Take care & hugs,
Danielle x

My first easel card

Good Sunday morning to you all!
At last I've had the chance to make an easel card! I've been wanting to try one of these for a few weeks now after having seen so many gorgeous samples floating around blogland! And is it ever easy - I love it!
These super cute images are from Pink Gem Designs and I've coloured them up with my distress inks. Mary and the manger are popped up in front of Jospeh and the donkey to add a bit more dimension to the scene. Paper is from Daisy D's and the sentiment is Inkadinkado (I think). The punched border is the Moroccan punch from EK Success - I love it - it's so elegant! Ribbon was from stash and I placed 4 blue crystal gems in each corner. I added some stickles to the stars on the sentiment panel for extra sparkle!
A close-up of the coloured images
Well, that's all for today! I hope you all enjoy a beautiful Sunday wherever you are visiting from in the world. Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving your comments - they are so appreciated!

Tilda with Presents

Happy Friday everyone!
I managed a card today - woohoo!! This is using the fabulous sketch by Jacque over at Friday Sketchers this week. I'm inking up this cute Tilda for the first time and have coloured her with my distress inks and Tombow markers. The paper is BG Eskimo Kisses and the panel behind Tilda I used a swirl stamp with versamark, clear embossed and distressed with distress inks. The snowflakes are an MS punch with a green adhesive jewel in he middle. I sewed around the main panel to add some extra detail and a thin burgundy grosgrain ribbon for a final touch. I got incredibly frustrated with tying the ribbon (I tied and re-tied it at least a dozen times, lol). Still not 100% happy with the way it is sitting, but oh well, it'll have to do! I gave the card a final spritzing with pearl Glimmer Mist to give it some extra sparkle!
Thanks for stopping by and visiting me - I really do appreciate it! Please leave a comment as I love to know who's visited so I can be sure to return the favour!
Have a great start to the weekend! And don't forget to sign up for my candy if you haven't already!!

Friday Sketchers - Snowflake Tilda

Hi there!
Sorry for the lack of posting this week - I was waiting until I could sit at my desk without having sneezing fits!!! So, here, by the skin of my teeth, I have a card with last weeks Friday Sketchers sketch layout challenge. Phew, cutting it fine I know, but I really liked the sketch and desperately wanted to participate in this one! So here it is, Tilda sitting on this sweet snowflake with this gorgeous Bo Bunny paper I recently purchased.
I coloured Tilda with my distress inks and Tombow markers on watercolour paper. The snowflake is from a sheet of die-cuts and the sentiment is from a winter set of stamps by Verve. It's a very simple card - the paper definitely takes full credit for the beauty of this card. Lilac adhesive pearls in each corner finish the look.
Thanks for stopping by and not giving up on me!! I really hope to have a bit more time to craft tomorrow and over the weekend. Thanks again for your wonderful comments - they really do mean so much to me!
Hugs,

It's Magical Monday!

Good Monday morning everyone!
It's a Magical one here and today I have this gorgeous image 'Elegant Pumpkins' to show you by the ever-so talented Nina May over at There's Magic in the Air. Leigh Anne has added the challenge 'monochromatic' to this weeks image - the image can be coloured but the rest of the card has to be monochromatic (black/white/grey).
Well, this is mine - I hope you like it! It's an image that is normally way out of my comfort zone but I'm really pleased with the way it turned out. I had loads of fun colouring this with my copics. I dug through all my stash to find anything 'elegant' (lol) and found this gorgeous velvet vine that I had picked up ages ago in a Dollar Store - I knew it would come in handy some day!! The rest of the card is pretty self-explanatory - the black cardstock is Core'dinations Black Magic and I sanded it gently to show some grey/white underneath. Nestie squares, my piercing tool and some adhesive pearls add the finishing elegant touches!! Oh yes, and the black organza ribbon!
Thanks for stopping by today - I really hope you can pop over to TMITA and check out all the other gorgeous creations by the talented DT. Be sure to join in too, after all this image is a FREEBIE. Nina has another wonderful prize up for grabs! Your comments are always so truly appreciated so thank you all for your kind and wonderful words!

Winter Wonderland Card - Choir Boys

Hello!
At last I have another card to post! I've managed to play a bit today and have done this card for the Winter Wonderland challenge this week which is to use jingle bells on our cards. I received this gorgeous Sarah Kay image in the craft package from my mum and decided to use it. I love it! The papers are from October Afternoon, including the sheet music. I coloured the image using my copics and distressed the edges with Tea Dye.
I sewed around the edges to add some extra detailing and finished with some cream silk ribbon, two jingle bells and a poinsettia and holly leaves from Prima. The pearl brad is from stash.
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. I love to read what you have to say. Don't forget to sign up for my blog candy too!

A day with lots of reasons to celebrate!

A very Happy Monday morning to you all!
I have lots of things to share with you today! First off, it's my birthday and let's say I'm close to leaving my thirties!! *wink* I do want to share some celebratory candy so watch out for it this week!

The other very exciting news I have to share with you is that I've been asked to be a permanent DT member for Nina May's beautiful artwork over at 'There's Magic in the Air'. I received an email just over 2 weeks ago from Nina saying someone had given her my name to see if I'd be interested in a DT position. Mmm, didn't have to think too hard about that one. YES - of course!!!! Today is my first official day on the team and this gorgeous thanksgiving Cornucopia is a digital freebie that Nina May is giving away. So why don't you hop on over to TMITA and check out all the gorgeous work from the team and join in. The lovely Nilla has included the challenge for us to use buttons with this image. Here is my sample:-

I coloured the image with my copics and distressed the edges. I used glossy accents on the jar to give it a glass effect. And lastly I added some raffia and threaded my button through and added 3 other smaller buttons. I hope you like it and can join in with the fun - there's a sweet prize to be won too!

Well, thanks for joining me today and helping me celebrate this fabulous and exciting day! You see, I told you I had been crafting behind the scenes - now at least I can start sharing!!! :)

I wish you all a beautiful day and thank you for all the comments you leave!

Hugs,

A Nativity Scene

Hi there!
I enjoyed some wonderful time to myself today as the boys went out with their dad and grandpa to the Science & Tech Museum! So I decided to ink up these gorgeous new Pink Gem Designs nativity stamps. I LOVE these!! Colouring them with my copics was so much fun! I decided to do another one of these scene cards as I knew it would be perfect for creating this Nativity Scene.
The paper is my last bit from stash *sob*. I used the large nestie square to cut the aperture out of the card. If anyone is interested in seeing a tutorial on how to make this card, please leave me a comment and I will endeavour to do one if there is enough interest.
Thanks for stopping by today - I hope you all enjoy a wonderful Sunday evening before the week starts back up again!
Hugs,
Danielle x
