Miss Anya meets Friday Sketchers

Good morning!
I hope you are all well - after a rainy +8oc day yesterday we now have fluffy snow falling down! What a mix of weather January is turning out to be! A quick post today as I have some commissions that I need to get on with!
I was asked to make this sweet Anya card for a birthday. This fabulous dp was a gift from my sweet friend Lori - thanks sweetie *waving at you*!! I coloured Anya with my Distress Inks and have to say I'm quite thrilled with the result! I have to be honest, since doing this detox my head is incredibly clear and I've done some things that have completely amazed me the last few days!! I used the fabulous layout over at Friday Sketchers this week which I thought worked beautifully with this image. Below is a quick peek at how I finished the inside.

Thanks for stopping by today and paying me a visit - I love to see you here. Thanks too for your beautiful comments.

Miss Anya - You're Special

Welcome and thanks for stopping by today to take a peek! I have finally inked up this gorgeous new Anya image that I've had sitting for a while! I love these and just hadn't had the time to ink her up until now. And I do think it's the perfect image for my niece who is turning 12. So this will be her birthday card.
I'm also able to join in with a couple of challenges - the layout is the sketch over at the Winter Wonderland challenge blog. Also, Cupcake Craft Challenges has the theme of 'Going Girly' - do you think this is girly enough??
I coloured Anya with my copics and the gorgeous paper is from K&Co. Ribbon is from stash and the bow is tied with the bow-easy tool. Sentiment is from EK Success and punched out with the SU! word window punch. Pearls are from stash.
Thanks again for your visit and for any lovely comments you may leave. I'm off to get this card in the post - those January birthdays always seem to creep up on me and I get them into the mail late!!
Hugs,
Danielle x

Some Christmas Gifts

Hi there!

I hope this post finds you all well. We are suffering deep freeze temps today (-20oc & -30oc with wind chill) so it's a good excuse to stay put in my warm craft room for the rest of the day! I'm just back in from my sons' Kindergarten Christmas Sing-a-Long - so cute!!
The journal I'm showing is an altered project I did for Josh's Secret Santa gift. I picked the journal up in Dollarama for $2 and then got to work on it with the sweet Anya image. Some embossing, ribbon, bling embellishments and Prima flowers pull everything together. I sure hope she likes it!
Well, that's me for today. A quick posting as I have some other stuff I still need to get done! I'll be showing you another gift I've put together tomorrow, so please come back if you can! I hope you all enjoy a fabulous day and stay warm wherever you are!

Friday Sketchers - My Guy

Hi everyone!
Woohoo - it's Friday and I can't be more thankful it's the weekend! I love the sketch over on Friday Sketchers today which is hosted by the lovely Carole. I've had new rubbah arrive in the mail this week and one of the things was this fabulous 'My Guy' set from The Greeting Farm. I adore these images - just perfect for the older/teenage boy.
I went with a colour combo of brown & blue for this card. I coloured using my copics and I paper pieced his shirt (paper is Chatterbox). I made the tag from a piece of kraft cardstock, spritzed it with water on the back and crumpled it up. I then used Frayed Burlap Distress Ink to add some interest and used my distressing tool around the edges. The arrows are a Cuttlebug die cut which I distressed with Faded Jeans and sanded with my Tim Holtz sandblock. The sentiment comes with the image set.
Thanks for your visit today, you are always so welcome and I love to see you here! Hope you have a fabulous Friday and start to the weekend!

Surfer Dude ......and Popcorn the Bear!

Happy Friday everyone!!
And is it ever a happy one .........my oldest son is celebrating his 11th birthday today, my craft room is back in order and fully functional once more, AND my laptop decided it hadn't died and booted up this afternoon as if nothing had ever been wrong with it!!!! I am still keeping a watchful eye on it though as I suspect there is a loose connection somewhere inside on the motherboard, but for now, I'm a happy bunny! ;)
So, to celebrate I thought I would show you 2 cards today instead of 1, hee hee!! For those of you who have missed my postings I hope having a double feature will make you happy :)
I will be making this a quick post as we have a fun evening planned with Josh, but he is currently immersed in building his new lego! The surfer dude card is his birthday card - he is a complete fish and just adores the water, so I thought Surfer Ian is just perfect for him! And needless to say he LOVED it! I was really happy with the way it turned out. Even happier when my neighbour commented that the twine and beads look just like a surfer necklace - yay - that was my intention and she 'got' it!! Don't you love that when someone 'gets' your creative thinking!
My second card is Popcorn the Bear which I received from Nikki's online store, Bunny-Zoe crafts. I love him and thoroughly enjoyed colouring him with my copics. The design and layout is very simple as I made it as a get well card for my father who is currently in hospital recovering from back surgery. I used a brand new tool on this card - can you guess what it is? Yep, it's my SU! horizontal slot punch for threading my ribbon - love it!

Well, that's it for now! I hope you're having a fabulous Friday and start to the weekend too! Thanks for stopping by and I'm glad to be blogging again - I've missed you all as much as my craft room!

Festive Anya - Simon Says Stamp Challenge card

Happy Wednesday!
Simon Says Stamp Challenge has this fabulous sketch this week so I couldn't resist joining in! It's the first time I've done one of their challenges and I hope it won't be the last. It's been a kind of hit and miss day with the weather and the boys have had play dates so I had a chance to nip into my craft room and play!
I coloured Miss Anya with my copics and kept to a teal colour theme. Not a normal colour I would choose for a christmas card but I have to say I really love the result. The papers are from a stack I bought last season in Wal-Mart and the panel behind Anya is cuttlebug embossed with the swiss dots. The sentiment is The Stamp Barn and the gorgeous ribbon is from my local craft store. I added some organza ribbon which doesn't strictly follow the sketch but I'm sure that's ok! I sewed around all the panels for added detail.
And there you have it, another christmas card added to my growing stash (I might actually not be overwhelmed come christmas time!!).
Thanks for visiting today and leaving your comments - I really do appreciate every single one of them!

2 Challenges 1 card!!

Good day my friends!
I hope you are all well and I'd like to wish my American bloggers a very Happy 4th of July today!
I managed to get this card done and used the Friday Sketchers sketch this week by the wonderful Claudia. I inked up my new Miss Anya's and coloured her with my prisma pencils and OMS and copics for her flesh areas. I'm really enjoying this colouring medium! I pulled out my BG Eva paper pad and coloured Anya in with those papers for inspiration. Cute Card Thursday challenge this week is 'A Stitch in Time' so I added both machine and faux stitching to the card. The EK Success Parisian border punch was used for the horizontal panel.
The sentiment is SU! and I finished the card with dew drops and a small flower and MS branch punch.
Thanks for your visit today and I hope you're all enjoying beautiful sunshine. I hope to get some more crafting time in this weekend - the weather isn't looking too great today!

Fisherman Ian - A Birthday card

Hi there!
Phew, well summer certainly seems to have arrived - it's incredibly hot and humid today and my boys are soooooo happy it's the last day of school!!!
I needed to make a fishing themed birthday card for a friend and I had this cute Greeting Farm stamped image of Fishing Ian - he's just too adorable!! The card is pretty plain and simple - always hard to 'fluff' guy cards up, lol!!! I coloured the image using my copics and I found these cute fishing embellishments in my stash. Some twine behind the 'Gone Fishin' ' sign adds some final detail.
Thanks for stopping by and hope you all get to enjoy this glorious day!
Hugs,
