Friday Sketchers Challenge Card

Hi there!
After an incredibly busy day I did get a chance to play a little bit and was very happy that the Friday Sketchers layout this week by Claudia was just fabulous!  I used this darling image (just been told by Connie that this is Miss Daisy from Sugar Nellie Stamps - thank you for correcting my info!!) that I received as part of a RAK by Linda (*thanks my friend*).  This is my first time using one of these images and I have totally fallen in love with her!  This layout made this card super easy to put together.  I actually coloured in the image with my copics first with colours that just caught my eye and then I happened to put this paper next to it, and wow, all the colours worked together!  Don't you love it when that happens, lol!!!  I distressed the papers and I embossed the back panel with my cb paisley folder.  The sentiment is one that I had forgotten about and thought was perfect for this card.  A pearl finishes off the centre of the flower and the silk ribbon add the perfect touch to finish the card.
Thanks for stopping by and for your very appreciated comments!  I can't believe how my blog has blossomed and I have to tell you when my 'followers' reach 50 I will be posting up some blog candy!!  So thank you again for all your support, it means so much to me :)

Magnolia Down Under Challenge - "Easter"

Hello everyone!
I finally got a chance to do a challenge and MDU won the toss for 'which one do I start with', lol! I don't have too many easter stamps but I do have this cute little egg and I found the MS Bunny border punch at my local Wal-Mart!  So, those were the foundations of my 'Easter' card for this challenge.  I used a new Tilda and sat her on these steps and created the background.  I coloured everything with my copics, added some rik-rak and some sparkle to the eggs.  It's a pretty simple card and I'm fairly happy with the final result.  What do you think - will it pass for an Easter card?
Well, I'm off to enjoy what's left of my evening.  I went to yoga tonight and it just makes the evening pass by even faster than normal!  Hope you all have a fabulous evening and good start to the day tomorrow!  Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment - they're so appreciated!

Pink Giraffe Parade - A Baby Card!

Hi all!
Well, it's already Sunday evening and I can't believe the weekend has come to an end already! I'm a little sad as I haven't managed to do any challenges yet but I really needed to fufill a baby card order.  So I dug out this cute giraffe stamp from Inkadinkado, stamped, coloured and cut it out 3 times and put the card together!  I used a little piece of pink ribbon for the tail and added diamond stickles to the giraffe's spots.  I so love working with pink - it's the only opportunity I get to work with this colour in my house, lol!!
I'm going to try and get back downstairs and craft a bit more before Desperate Housewives start (yes, I'm a fan!!).  I hope you've all enjoyed a fabulous weekend and will see you around in blogland sometime this week!
Take care!

The Paper Passion - Tattered Angels

Happy Saturday everyone!
I'm posting this quickly before I head out to take Jacob to a birthday party!  These are 3 cards I made for The Paper Passion this week using Tattered Angels chipboard embellishments, TA Pearl & Silver Glimmer Mist and LYB 'Love Letters' papers and stamps.  It was a lot of fun putting these cards together and I guess my mojo was flowing nicely as everything happened so easily!  I think that's also a sign of outstanding product don't you think?  In case you can't see it clearly, on the owl card I came up with the sentiment alongside the hugs & kisses stamp "Hoots and Kisses" :)
All this product is available on Rosa's store here at truly incredible prices - hop on over and you'll also see that the forum was launched yesterday on there and has gotten off to an amazing start!  Meeting some really wonderful & talented ladies!!
Enjoy your day - lots of sunshine here so I'm a happy bunny!! :)

Children's Lion Card

Hi!
This is a quickie posting tonight!  I ended up not having as much time to play as I had hoped as I'm busy volunteering my time right now for a local charity event coming up.  However, I did pull out one of my new 'templates' from my mum's care package.  Isn't this lion the cutest??  I received 6 animal card templates which are just perfect for making kids cards or embellishing scrapbook pages!  My littlest guy, Jacob, gets to go to his first birthday party tomorrow so I thought this would be perfect for a little 4 year old boy!
Thanks for stopping by.  Not too sure how much time I'll get to ink up my stamps tomorrow.  I need to stick around with Jacob at the party tomorrow as he has severe food allergies.  I will try my best though as I really cherish my stamping time!!
Have a great evening all - and thanks so much for your very appreciated comments!

Wonderful mail candy!

Very Happy Friday everyone!
I just had a ring on my doorbell and it was the mailman with a box  for me!  My dearest and most generous Mum filled up this box with a crazy amount of crafting templates and goodies!! Thanks so much Mum - love ya!! Wow, I'm so thrilled and excited I did a happy dance all through my craft room, lol!!  I honestly don't know which one to open first, hee hee!!  Expect to see some exciting stuff being posted on my blog in the coming days/weeks!
And inside this box was this gorgeous card from my 7 year old niece, Mia.  Isn't it amazing!!  I was blown away by her card - she has serious talent.  I wish I could have been making cards when I was 7 (too busy climbing trees, lol)!!!
Well, I'm off to have some serious amount of playtime!  Will be back later!

Collapsing Envelope Box

Hello!
Wow - it's been a busy day!  I had sooo much fun in my class today teaching.  There were only 2 ladies but did we ever have a laugh!  I love smaller classes - they're so much more intimate and fun and relaxing!  I had taught this class before but I updated my 'winter' samples to 'spring' ones.  Silly me only took a photo of one of the cards and of course I left my samples in the store for them, duh!!  Ah well, you'll have to make do with seeing only one of the four creations!
This is such a fun project and once you've figured out all the folding, it is a little treasure to behold.  Previously I have used double sided scrapbook paper but today I took out some new release stamps from The Stamp Barn and used them.  It's a set of 3 leaf swirl flourishes (very pretty) and I inked them up on lightweight cardstock with pink and green chalk inks.  The flower is a Spellbinders die cut which I adhered to the ribbon with a brad.  I will double check but I believe the tutorial is under Tutorials on my sidebar.  If it isn't, I will upload the instructions.
Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek today.  Hopefully tomorrow won't be as hectic and I'll get to play catch-up on some of the challenges.  I did make cards this afternoon for The Paper Passion but you'll have to wait another day or two for those!!
Wishing you all a great evening and once again, huge thanks for your beautiful comments!
Hugs,
Danielle x
ps.  It seems I don't have these instructions in my tutorial list so I will plan a step-by-step tutorial of this project to post up next week!  Glad you like it!!

I'm out teaching!

Good morning everyone!
Just thought I'd let you all know that I am out teaching my 'Fancy Folds' card class at Heather's craft store this morning.  The last couple of days have been really hectic and this class was rather last minute so I've been using my spare minutes of time in preparation for it!
I will post up the class cards when I get a chance to later today.  Hope you all have a wonderful day and be sure to stay safe!

Magnolia Down Under Challenge #4 - Bling it On!!

Happy Monday everyone!
Wow, this weekend was busy and I barely got a chance to go into my craft room!  The boys went back to school today so I was able to have some 'me' time and I got the chance to do the Magnolia Down Under challenge - Bling It On!
The Tilda image is one of my new purchases and I really love it!  I stamped her on watercolour paper and coloured her in using my Distress Inks.  I have to remind myself of my other colouring mediums and not get totally wrapped up in my copics!!  I still LOVE the look that watercolouring gives - so much more muted and soft.
Onto the card, I kept the layout simple and used papers from my BG Porcelain pad.  I used other papers from my stash.  The sewing adds some simple detail to the back panel.  The swirl is from SU! and I embellished it with heart gems as well as the hearts in Tilda's hands.  For additional bling I added stickles to Tilda's wings and some to the Prima flower, and also added heart gems in each of the corners.  For the final touch I added a length of organza ribbon and tied the love charm at the top.
I took a photo from a slightly different angle to make sure you could see all the bling & sparkle!
Thanks for stopping by today and for leaving a much appreciated comment!  I hope you're all having a wonderful day!

Friday Sketchers Challenge - Fairy Beautiful!

Hi all!
I had hoped to be back again today and here I am!  I had a fabulous morning browsing around The Paper Passion with Rosa - what incredible product - I was in heaven I tell ya!!  I was there for 2 hours and came away with some fabulous stuff and not breaking the bank account either! One thing I got, which I've been meaning to for ages, is a distressing tool.  As you can see I put it to work straight away on this card!  I started my colouring on the fairy last night and choosing papers too so it was great that it worked for the Friday Sketchers challenge today!
The stamp is a new image from Heather's Stamping Haven line by The Stamp Barn.  Isn't she adorable?  I love the delicate lines of the artist's drawing making the image very whimsical.  I chose aquamarine and beige as my colour combo which I really love together.  I coloured the fairy in with my Tombow markers and highlighted areas with my Sakura gel pens.  The flower is Prima and the beaded flower is K&Co - isn't it fab!!  I used a new Fiskars apron border punch and the MS branch punch finishes off the flower.
Well, the boys are out on play dates so I will take this 'quiet time' to sit down with a cup of tea and do some blog hopping and check out what you've all been doing!
Have a fabulous start to the weekend and hopefully see you back again soon!
Hugs,

'Love Letters' - Scrapbook Page

Happy Friday morning everyone!
The skies are blue and the sun is shining again - what a fabulous week we've had for March Break!  Hopefully it will run into the weekend too so we can enjoy more sunshine before the boys head back to school.
Well, if you didn't know I do also scrapbook besides making cards.  Cards is my premier passion though and I do devote more time to that.  However, being a DT member for The Paper Passion I get to indulge in my love of scrapbooking!  This is a good thing as it pushes me out of my 'card' zone and into my photos!!
The package I'm currently working with is Little Yellow Bicycle 'Love Letters' set which is totally gorgeous.  This is my best friend's wedding back in June of 2006 on my home island of Jersey (UK).  This set is so great as everything co-ordinates beautifully which makes creating layouts incredibly easy.
Anyways, enough of the blurb! I'm off to meet Rosa at her store this morning - can't wait to browse all those goodies!!  Make a stop there - I know you'll love her prices and her selection of product!
I hope to get some inking time this afternoon to work on the Friday Sketchers challenge - it looks like fun!
Hope you all have a fabulous day today!  Thanks for stopping by and leaving a much appreciated comment - your wonderful words really do keep me going!!

Cute Card Thursday Challenge - Sitting Pretty Tilda

Hi there!
Thanks for coming by today and paying me a visit.  I got a chance to create my card for the Cute Card Thursday challenge here .  Todays recipe was:-

1.  to use 2 papers
2.  use ripped paper
3.  use only 4 embellishments

The use of only 4 embellishments scared me a little, lol! I enjoy adding my embellishments and not ever having to count them you forget how quickly they add up!  BUT, I did manage to stick with 4 and I'm very proud of managing to achieve that!!
So onto the card, I used a new Tilda image with one of those awfully sweet little Magnolia birds! I coloured everything with my copics.  I paper pleated the bottom panel (my first attempt at this) and then added two ripped layers on top.  The white grosgrain ribbon and the apricot prima flower & pearl brad for center finish that panel off.
I added dimensionals to Tilda and popped her up so she sat nicely on the pleated panel then used a couple more ripped paper pieces to add the simple sentiment.  And there you have it!
Must share my luck with you all - I won a prize today on last weeks Cute Card Thursday challenge and a prize on some blog candy yesterday!  Wow - can't believe my luck - maybe my teeny tiny drop of Irish blood gave me some good luck this week, lol!
Wishing you all a wonderful evening and looking forward to some blog hopping tonight!

Tilda with Rose

Happy Wednesday everyone!
Wow, it's the middle of the week already - these days sure seem to fly by!  We had an awesome day out with the boys yesterday at the Natural History Museum - they loved the dinosaurs!
After having a lovely surprise in my mailbox yesterday - my Magnolia order arrived(!) - I got a little time to play last night.  I adore this Tilda image and had a lot of fun playing around with some new copic colours on her!  This aqua colour has to be one of my favourites and I really like the shading I achieved on her dress.  I am starting to get the hang of my copics now and am beginning to understand how to work them with respect to achieving shading etc.  The papers are from the BG Marrakech line.  And what's up with me, more yellow on my card, lol!!  The butterflies are MS punch, which I'm just loving, and I added some Swarovski crystals to them for some bling!
I hope you like it and thanks for stopping by and taking a peek today!  Enjoy your day and I hope you all get some inking time!
Hugs,

Skip Happy Tilda

Hi everyone!
A very happy Tuesday to you all & a Happy St Patrick's Day!!  For some reason I was wide awake at 5.30am this morning and couldn't go back to sleep (very unlike me) so I got up, made myself a cup of tea and guess where I went?  That's right, straight into my craft room!  I managed to play for a bit before my boys got up and I used this fun skipping Tilda (an image received from Linda).  I coloured her in with my copics and have to say I'm pretty happy with the way the colouring turned out today.  The card is very simple in design, I almost feel it's lacking something, what do you think?  The papers are from my K&Co designer pad and SU!  I added some twine for her skipping rope after I cut the image out.  I used Prima flowers, a crochet flower and 3 pearl brads to finish off the card.
It's a quick posting today as my hub has taken the day off for us all to spend a family day together whilst the boys are on March Break.  Not sure what our plans are as yet but it's getting up to +11 so whatever we do, it's going to be a great day with those temperatures and blue skies!
I wish you all a fabulous day and will be back later to check in on all your wonderful creations!

Magnolia Down Under Challenge - Daffodil Tilda

Hi everyone!
I'm back for a second posting today - and get this, it's yellow again!! Can you believe that, lol. Well, let me tell you it was not through choice that I did a yellow card again, but it was the challenge over at Magnolia Down Under that made me do it!! It was actually a perfect choice for this sweet Tilda image (received from Linda) as I decided to add little yellow flowers to the grass and make Tilda stand amongst the daffodils. Can you sense how desperate I am for spring??

This card actually fell together really nicely and quickly - love it when that happens. The 3 elements to the challenge were to:-

1. Use Tilda
2. Use yellow ribbon
3. Have a flower on the card

Well, I think I have all of those pretty well covered don't you think? I didn't want to add a sentiment but I felt the ribbon needed a little something extra so I tied the metal charm 'Live' to it. I coloured Tilda in with my copics using E00, R02, YR21, Y11, Y15, YG03, YG13, YR21, YR24, YG95 & E34. The flower is from stash and I added a pearl brad for its center. The daffodil flower heads are a small punch and I added White Opal Liquid Pearls to their centers. I sponged the sky behind Tilda with Versamagic blue chalk ink.
Thanks for stopping by again today - I love having you come and visit! Enjoy the rest of your Sunday - we're off to take the boys swimming again!

Hugs,

Cute Card Thursday - Just a Note .....

Good morning & happy Sunday to you all!
Although I'm posting these challenges out of day order *wink* at least I'm getting them done! This sketch layout was on the Cute Card Thursday blog challenge and what a fun sketch it was. I had coloured up this Tilda a couple of weeks ago and thought it was about time I used her. I coloured her so I could specifically match her up to my BG Marrakech pad of scrumptious paper! I'm not a huge fan of yellow as you know but I do love this colour combo together - especially this bright cheery blue!
I coloured Tilda with my copics. I am gradually expanding my colours and now have some yellows and green - thought it was absolutely necessary to add those to my collection what with spring coming and all the spring card designs I will be doing, lol!! (I have to justify myself somewhere right??!!). I cuttlebug embossed the tag through the Textiles folder and I used a Fiskars border punch for the blue cs strip. The sentiment is from The Stamp Barn and there you pretty much have it!
Thanks for coming by and paying me a visit! I hope this beautiful day is treating you all well.

I wish for You ...... Friday Sketchers Challenge Card

Good Saturday morning all!
The sun is shining and the temperature is rising so my world is a happy place this morning! I played for a bit and got my card done for the Friday Sketchers challenge. It was a fun sketch from Carole this week. I used a Tilda image which I received in my mailbox from Linda this week - she is so adorable! I thought this sentiment (The Stamp Barn) would work great with it as she is holding the beautiful rose. The papers are from K&Co and I punched out a MS butterfly and added some doodles. The Prima flowers with pearl brads for their centers and my sewing machine add the final touches. I also took a photo of the finished look inside the card. Very simple but I love the look the butterflies and their doodle trails give.
Hope you like it and thanks for taking the time to stop by and leave a comment! Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

All You Need is Love ....

Hi all!
I'm back with a card - woohoo!! This is my first DT submission for The Paper Passion. I was so excited to receive my DT package earlier this week and Rosa gave me the fantastic 'Love Notes' collection from Little Yellow Bicycle. The papers and stamps are so beautifully co-ordinated it's really hard not to fall in love with it all! I decided to make a card and ink up the stamps. I love the funky colours of magenta, black & white together - very hip don't ya think!! Head on over to the website - Rosa's prices are unbelievable!!
Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek today. Be sure to leave a comment if you like the card - I always love hearing from you!

My gorgeous blog candy win!

Hey everyone!
Well, my beautiful friend Linda did it again!! This fabulous blog candy arrived in my mailbox today and I can't tell you how much it made my day!! I was one of the first five people to comment on her blog candy and by doing so I won something handmade by her. This picture album is so gorgeous and I can't wait to add pictures to it. The photo just doesn't do it justice! Linda also added some fabulous stamped images too which I can't wait to start working with. I am so lucky to have such amazing blogging friends - I hope you all know just how much I appreciate you guys!
It was a busy day yesterday with the surprise party for my son's teacher. It went off really well and as hard as it is to believe, the 21 10yr olds kept a fantastic secret as she had no clue!! After shedding many tears I was just too emotionally and physically drained last night to do anything in my craft room. I wanted to so badly but my body just wouldn't let me :(
BUT, I did get in a great nights sleep so I really hope I can get down to my craft room this afternoon and create.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope to have another posting up soon!

A butterfly flies beside us ....

Hi there!
Thanks for stopping by today. Apologies for no postings over the weekend - it was such fine, warm weather that we made the most of it with the kids and managed to get out and about. Good thing too as we woke up to snow this morning and most of the day - knew the fine weather was just a tease! :(

Well, I was asked to make my son's Gr.5 teacher a farewell card and this is what I did. I decided to make a more permanent gift on a basic white canvas which I thought we would all sign. She is one amazing, incredible and gifted teacher and I am SO sad to see her go. She was covering a mat-leave and we are all so devastated to see her leave our child's classroom. Her motto throughout the year has been "Be the Change" so I thought what was more perfect than a butterfly! And this verse speaks every word of what we feel in our hearts for her. I cried every minute I made this (still crying as I write this) and I just hope she can feel the huge amount of love that went into making this for her!

The stamps are from Heather's Stamping Haven line from The Stamp Barn and I coloured the butterfly with tombow markers. I sponged the edge of the white watercolour paper with pink chalk ink to take away the starkness of the white. The scrapbooking paper is from stash and I used Prima flowers and my new MS butterfly punch to add the butterflies to the flowers. Three pearl brads and the crochet lace add the finishing touches.

Thanks for taking the time to read my *sob* story today and for any comments you may leave. And for any of you who are teachers out there, I so admire you and can't thank you enough for the fabulous job you do with our children!

Have a wonderful Monday!

Hugs,

Friday Sketchers Challenge - House Mouse Hello!

Happy Friday everyone!
Here's the card I've done for today's Friday Sketchers Challenge. What a fab layout from Mumur this week - a lot of fun elements in it! I used the adorable HM image from Linda *smile* which I coloured with my copics. The papers are from a new set by K&Co which are totally gorgeous. I absolutely love every single paper in the pack and I look forward to working my way through them! The colours worked really well for this image today.

Thanks for taking the time to stop and post a comment - I always love reading what you have to say! I hope you all enjoy a fabulous start to the weekend. We have +temps forecast all weekend long so can't wait to get a little taste of spring!!

Cute Card Thursday - Wine & Dine Tilda

Happy Thursday all!
I hope this post finds you all well! I managed to get down to doing the Cute Card Thursday challenge today - "Food & Drink". I had to think about this one as I don't have too many 'food' stamps but I remembered this Tilda. Even better, she was in my special 'Magnolia' box of ready to go stamped and trimmed Tildas! So all I had to do was colour her in.
The papers are from the new BG Marrakech - they are stunningly gorgeous! So I kept similar hues of turquoise, beige and browns with my colouring. I kept the layout pretty simple and added the flower piece to the side as my main embellishment. The sentiment is SU! I added 4 pearl brads to the card for a touch of elegance!
Many thanks for taking the time to stop by today and for posting a comment should you leave one!
Hugs,

I'm Back!!!

Hello there!
Finally, I am back in my craft room and creating, yay!! Although it did take me a few attempts to get my mojo flowing again after such a lengthy absence, lol!! All your get well wishes were so heartwarming and I am incredibly touched by your beautiful comments - I truly feel blessed to have you as my blogging friends! :-)
Well, this is my card for the Friday Sketchers challenge over on their blog. It was a very plain and simple sketch this week but I loved how versatile it allowed you to be! This sweet Tilda is one of my RAK images from my very giving friend, Linda. Thank you my friend, she was such a treat to colour in. Talking of treats, I have rewarded myself with some new copic colours and I am having so much fun teaching myself this colouring medium. They are seriously soooo addictive!
I'm posting two photos of my card - the top one is taken indoors and the light is really quite bad and the second one I dashed outside onto the deck (it was #*^% cold!!) and snapped this one. I didn't realise quite how significant the difference was in the colours! And it still doesn't really show how absolutely scrummy the paper is, lol! But hopefully this second card gives you a clearer idea of the true colours.
Onto the card details - my paper is from the new BG Porcelain pack - what paper candy that is! Talk about gorgeous. The rest is pretty straight forward - I used the wooden chair from Magnolia's Summer Chic collection which Tilda is sitting on. The sentiment stamp is a bargain $1.50 from Michaels and the flower is Prima with a gorgeous filigree brad I stumbled upon in one of my favourite craft stores!
Thanks for stopping by today and I thank you all for your patience!! :) I hope the wait was worth it! With my mojo back in full flow I hope I can get back down to my craft room again tonight!
And before I go, sweet Zee passed on this generous award to me! Thanks Zee - your blog makes me smile too! And I will now pass this on to others (in no particular order!!) - Lorraine, Cheryl, Katarina, Marcie, Sam, Debby, Jacqui, Shirley, Dawn and Sue. Thanks for all your inspirational work - I love visiting your blogs and viewing your creations!

Hugs,

Heartfelt Thanks!

Hey there everyone!
I can't thank you guys enough for your good wishes - they have meant so much to me! Unfortunately, I took 1 step forward and 2 back and the head cold has hit me full-flow!! I can't stop sneezing and can barely breathe so it looks like my craft room is going to be lonely for a few days longer!

I've been MIA!!

Hi all,
You have all been so patient with me this week and I can't apologise enough for the lack of new postings this week. It really has been a tough week with my health and yesterday I literally spent the day in bed with the flu! My 3 yr old kept jumping into bed with me to see how I was doing and my other 2 boys were a little perplexed as to why I wasn't around and about the house! Thankfully it seems a day in bed did the trick and I feel a lot better today, although I didn't get to craft. Hopefully, tomorrow I will get the chance to have some inking time when my little guy, Jacob, goes off to nursery school in the afternoon. Wow, really didn't like feeling this awful but I guess my body finally forced me to rest up whether I liked it or not!
Hugs
